India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.42%

Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Power, Technology and Capital Goods sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.42%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.44%.

The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Divi’s Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI), which rose 5.09% or 263.50 points to trade at 5,437.00 at the close. Meanwhile, LTIMindtree Ltd (NS:LTIM) added 3.11% or 191.35 points to end at 6,337.95 and NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC) was up 2.39% or 9.30 points to 399.15 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL), which fell 4.40% or 32.40 points to trade at 703.40 at the close. SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:SBIL) declined 2.46% or 46.75 points to end at 1,855.00 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) was down 2.02% or 37.65 points to 1,822.80.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which rose 2.41% to 399.35, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which was up 2.15% to settle at 1,783.35 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which gained 2.10% to close at 1,575.00.

The worst performers were Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was down 1.77% to 1,826.00 in late trade, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which lost 1.55% to settle at 7,233.00 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 0.65% to 2,903.15 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1748 to 719 and 18 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2461 rose and 1310 declined, while 99 ended unchanged.

Shares in Divi’s Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI) rose to all time highs; up 5.09% or 263.50 to 5,437.00. Shares in LTIMindtree Ltd (NS:LTIM) rose to 52-week highs; up 3.11% or 191.35 to 6,337.95.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 6.57% to 13.30.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.16% or 4.15 to $2,536.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.03% or 0.71 to hit $68.00 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.97% or 0.70 to trade at $71.14 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.01% to 83.98, while EUR/INR rose 0.01% to 92.70.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 101.57.
