India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.14%

Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, IT and Green Energy sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.14% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.09%.

The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were LTIMindtree Ltd (NS:LTIM), which rose 6.48% or 372.45 points to trade at 6,124.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR) added 3.74% or 19.35 points to end at 536.50 and Divi’s Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI) was up 2.71% or 132.70 points to 5,035.20 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL), which fell 1.36% or 41.75 points to trade at 3,025.35 at the close. Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) declined 1.34% or 42.45 points to end at 3,123.75 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI) was down 1.34% or 166.90 points to 12,330.00.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which rose 3.85% to 537.00, Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was up 2.20% to settle at 1,556.00 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which gained 1.95% to close at 1,937.15.

The worst performers were Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was down 1.24% to 3,124.00 in late trade, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which lost 1.11% to settle at 12,358.00 and Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which was down 1.02% to 2,495.00 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1461 to 980 and 32 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2063 fell and 1738 advanced, while 78 ended unchanged.

Shares in Divi’s Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI) rose to 52-week highs; rising 2.71% or 132.70 to 5,035.20. Shares in Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) rose to all time highs; rising 2.20% or 33.50 to 1,556.00. Shares in Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 1.95% or 37.00 to 1,937.15.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.55% to 13.98.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.44% or 11.20 to $2,541.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.52% or 1.15 to hit $74.38 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.36% or 1.07 to trade at $77.59 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.05% to 83.96, while EUR/INR fell 0.45% to 93.44.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.41% at 100.86.
