Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, IT and Auto sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.40% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.43%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO), which rose 3.58% or 38.45 points to trade at 1,113.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) added 2.61% or 44.80 points to end at 1,758.30 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) was up 2.59% or 179.00 points to 7,079.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS), which fell 1.50% or 40.60 points to trade at 2,674.95 at the close. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) declined 1.22% or 34.00 points to end at 2,764.00 and JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL) was down 1.16% or 11.05 points to 938.20.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which rose 3.57% to 1,112.95, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was up 2.57% to settle at 1,758.00 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which gained 2.41% to close at 7,065.00.
The worst performers were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was down 1.11% to 2,766.00 in late trade, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which lost 0.82% to settle at 1,799.00 and JSW Steel Ltd (BO:JSTL) which was down 0.73% to 942.40 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1694 to 759 and 22 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2438 fell and 1347 advanced, while 98 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.34% to 13.90.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.67% or 16.90 to $2,554.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.16% or 0.12 to hit $74.64 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $77.58 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.08% to 83.89, while EUR/INR fell 0.30% to 93.07.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 101.12.
